Gift Ideas for the Foodie in Your Life

I don’t know about you, but I find it awfully hard to think of gifts for certain family members. Especially parents. I mean, it feels like they already have everything they need, and I don’t want to buy them something that they don’t.

Food is always a good idea for just about any person on your list. I mean, everybody has to eat! And most people have their special treats that they love. But you can fall into a rut with buying food for parents every year.

Enter small businesses!

When you shop from local/small businesses, you can find wonderful, unique gifts for those hard-to-buy-for people.

The wonderful thing about the internet these days is that you can support small businesses without leaving your home. Not that I always mind stepping out into the world, but with two small children, it isn’t always an option. Especially in the minus-17-degree Minnesota weather. Ugh.

When I’m checking out online, seeing that a company accepts PayPal always makes me more at ease – I just feel safer using my PayPal than entering my credit card number. And let’s be honest: I do some of my Christmas shopping while nursing James, so it’s super convenient to not have to stop and find grab my credit card when I’m ready to purchase.

This year I opted to buy honey for both my and Reuben’s parents from Bee Raw. My dad is a honey enthusiast, so I thought it would be neat for him to be able to sample rare/unique honey such as Maine Blueberry or New York Basswood.

The cool thing about Bee Raw is that all of their beekeepers are farmers that would otherwise have to sell their premium honey to big companies at a low cost. The folks at Bee Raw give them a premium price for their single-floral varietal honeys. They also employ local workers and use post-consumer and glass packaging.

Their honey is as it should be: raw, not processed, heated, or filtered.

GIFT BASKET IDEAS

To make a honey gift basket, place some pretty dish towels in a small wire basket. Fill with raw honey + a honey stick, a beeswax candle, stoneware mugs, tea, and any other treats you know your recipient enjoys (my dad likes dark chocolate).

For someone who is more specifically a tea lover, you could purchase one of Bee Raw’s honey/tea pairings, and add a pretty mug and tea infuser.

BTW, this holiday season PayPal is offering free return shipping (called Return Shipping On Us) on items up to $30 for up to 11 purchases.

Happy last-minute Christmas shopping!

xoxo

This is a lovely idea---parents ARE hard to buy for and I'm all about shopping from home these days, too. Filing away for future reference...:)
