Sparkling Strawberry Jasmine Green Iced Tea
Ingredients
- 1 pint fresh strawberries washed and hulled
- 1/2-3/4 cups sweetener of choice I used evaporated cane juice
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 5 green tea bags Jasmine scented or regular
- 2 1/2 cups sparkling water
- Ice cubes for serving
Instructions
-
1) Place the tea bags in a heat-proof bowl. Place 2 1/2 cups of water in a tea kettle and bring to a boil. Pour over the tea bags and allow to steep for 2-3 minutes. Remove bags and discard.
-
2) Meanwhile, place the strawberries in a blender and puree until completely smooth. Place in a small saucepan with the sweetener and heat over medium-low heat until the sugar dissolves.
-
3) Pour the strawberry puree into a heat-proof pitcher along with the tea and stir. Place in the refrigerator to cool completely.
-
4) Just before serving, pour the sparkling water into the iced tea. Taste and adjust the amount of water if needed. Serve over ice cubes.

Wow! Glad nothing important was damaged in the water…my husband and I lived in his grandparents basement apartment for the first two years we were married and one time the refrigerator upstairs leaked and soaked the ceiling and walls of the basement, dripping all over the carpet. We never had anything as extreme happen as you did, though!
That drink looks delicious…my husband grew up drinking lots of pop and he is a big flavored beverage guy. This would be a great way to make things a little bit healthier for him!
Guess that's the danger of living "under" people, eh? 🙂 Ugh, wet carpet does not sound like fun.
Hope your husband likes this green tea – it's so refreshing! That reminds me…I need to make some lemonade for Reuben. 🙂
This looks amazing!
This looks tasty. I've never had Jasmine tea, though. What's it like?
Jasmine has a floral or rose flavor – green tea is flavored with Jasmine flowers to make Jasmine tea.
This looks amazing! If I wasn't out right now I'd make it…. New follower via bloglovin'! Alex

Oh, wow! this looks amazing! I MUST try this! 🙂
So, I made this last week and it was pretty good! Jasmine tea was a new flavor for me. It's inspiring me to make more homemade sodas this summer…I also tried this one and really liked it: http://therigneys.wordpress.com/2011/06/19/basil-lime-soda/.
Looking nice. Perfect combination of health & taste!
Teas are absolutely good for enriching the body's systems and keeping people in good shape. So yes, this is nice. That is a rather smart mix!
